2012 Menghai Mountain Rock Flavor is a 8 year old maocha, making it 2004, raw puerh cake that is on a different wavelength than the LFPT and let me explain:
The LFPT that most have been enjoying have gone through rather aggressive storage in Taiwan while cakes such as these mostly seem to not be going through that; at least not on my radar.
Now here's why this is important for something that's possibly only 8 years stored outside of it's maocha storage from 2004-2012. This rock flavor or mountain taste pops when stored dry and rounded out as the years pass with the more humid storage.
Hot take: Not much out there that has that flavor... when pushed it's not something you can compare to anything else. It's like a signature experience, not flavor.

Starts camphor, later tobacco. Nice slight bitterness. A good balance of material taste and age. Any younger it might be a little rough.
