Some broken leaf among the rough ones; the appearance of a bargain tea.
First steep is light, warm to the head and the roof of the mouth tingling with sweet pockets observed by my tongue. Hugian is similar to a stick of sweet gum when the salivation continues to occur after its gone.
As the color deepens on the second brew the aromatics are unidentified mixed warm fruits. Leaf opens up to a pile of dark greens. The taste becomes 'thick' with what I will call apricot gum. The increased thick texture leaves a residue in the mouth enhancing the hugian- now with warm fruit with that sweet gum flavor. By the time the thirds steep is drank, the transition to slightly flavored honey begins. The texture, taste, and feel changes in the mouth over time on this. Eventually becoming quite warm, needing to take it slow even though sweetness is something that compels quick drinking.

First impressions, absolutely impeccable leaf quality. Especially compared to other online vendors who will not give you disclaimers like LP did and their product arrives full of broken bits. Of course, the important part is in the tea itself. I can't speak for the Ao Fu Hou cultivar as I'm not that well versed in it, but as a Dancong, this is impeccable. Light, sweet minerality that reminds you of its descendance from the Shui Xian cultivar, and this incredible fruitiness that gave me heavy peach notes and slight orange notes, that complements the minerality. This goes well, well beyond its price point, and has rapidly became one of my favorite daily drinkers. If you have not had many Dancongs before this will change your perception on this type of tea. If you're a big Dancong drinker like me this will still blow your mind.
