2022 Huayan Hongyin
My notes:
Aroma isn't anything distinctive. Coming across like hot leaf water... the first sip was a bit unexpected with the background of sweetness. Was assuming this would be a burly tea which it is but the sweetness part caught me off guard in a great way. This is fairly thick for a 2022 given the dry storage age on it which overtime this blend has so much potential. Somehow there isn't an astringency yet you can taste the young aspect of this but then it doesn't preform like a 3 year puerh... not sure how to put it in words, it doesn't taste GREEN GREEN if that helps. It's like a blend of menghai flavors without any harshness and this backend of sweep popping notes that I'm not sure where they come from honestly. As the session goes on, there's a stickiness in the saliva that comes with dryness which gives a different type of sweet note to pick up. Not sure if this comes from the progression of the blended material as the leaf juice is extracted or what but it makes it a slightly dynamic session with a building throat feel.
From BFZC:
'Tracing back to the Red Seal Round Tea producing area in the 1950s, the company rigorously restores the flavor of the classic Chinese Pu'er tea. The tea is blended from the top tea mountains in the Menghai tea area, including Bulangshan-Banpen, Mengsong-Huazhuliangzi, Nannuoshan-Banpo Laozhai... and other top tea mountains. All of them are picked from the rich buds in the spring before the Qingming Festival. Each piece of tea has the essence of thousands of years of nurturing by heaven and earth.'
